De Gea wins the2017/18 Golden Glove award
Manchester United’s clean sheet at the London Stadium means David De Gea has won the Premier League’s Golden Glove award for the first time in his increasingly decorated career.
De Gea kept his latest clean sheet in Thursday night's goalless draw at West Ham, where the Spaniard looked comfortable as the hosts were limited to just two shots on target.
'My Golden Glove award is for the team'
Speaking exclusively to us, a humble David De Gea dedicated his Golden Glove award to the team...
"It feels good as it is my first Golden Glove award," De Gea said to MUTV in the interview that is available to watch above.
"I am really happy for that. I means we defended well in this league, I am happy for me and happy for the team. It is for everyone, it is a team award, not just for the goalkeeper. It just good for me and I am happy for the team."
'I'm not jumping around but I'm happy'
"It is better to finish second than fourth," said a satisfied Jose in his MUTV interview at the London Stadium...
"It is about clean sheets and they are about the team. Obviously, we are all very happy for David and it is a great team achievement."
This latest accolade will be another feather in De Gea’s cap, who won the Player’s Player of the Year and a record breaking fourth Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year at the Manchester United Player of the Year awards at the beginning of May.
The Spaniard made his debut for United in the summer of 2011 and has gone on to make over 200 league appearances for the Reds, keeping 93 clean sheets in that time.
This season has been De Gea’s best in a Manchester United shirt, with the Spanish stopper making a number of game saving blocks, in particular our away visit to Arsenal and in the Manchester derby.
United secure second place
ArticleThe Reds are held to a goalless draw at West Ham - but it's enough to seal second place in the league.
