How noisy was Old Trafford during Liverpool classic?
It was bedlam, madness, mayhem and ecstasy, and a million more words besides. But just how loud was Old Trafford during our colossal FA Cup win over Liverpool?
Well, new data that has been made available by the club has just revealed the answer: the Theatre of Dreams delivered its loudest noise of the 2023/24 season last Sunday.
The average decibel level was a mighty 94.9dB across those dramatic 120-plus minutes – substantially beyond the racket produced for standout victories over Brentford and Aston Villa earlier in the campaign.
The peak noise recorded during the game was much higher still. One social media user even shared a video from his car dashcam, parked hundreds of yards away, which had kicked in ready to record an 'incident' due to the din that followed Amad's goal!

Before the game, writing in his exclusive manager's column for our matchday programme, United Review, Erik ten Hag had called for M16 to 'bring the noise'.
And how Old Trafford responded, helping the Reds get off to a fast and forceful start which led to Scott McTominay's opener in the 10th minute.
Liverpool snatched the initiative just before half-time, but an equaliser, scored by Antony in the 87th minute, reignited our home stadium's passion and aggression.
And despite another goal for the visitors in extra-time, Marcus Rashford and Amad swung the tie decisively in our favour with two heroic late strikes, as Old Trafford threatened to combust with joy.
Interestingly, however, the average noise levels did not match the loudest game of the Ten Hag era so far.
The Dutchman's very first win as United boss – also against Liverpool, in August 2022 – fired the decibel meter upwards even further, to 95.9.
But club analysts noted that Liverpool's enlarged away following of 9,000 (permitted due to FA Cup traditions) might have prevented last weekend's crowd from beating that mark.
Had Sunday's fixture been a Premier League game, around 7,000 more United fans would have been present inside Old Trafford.

Whatever the data, few Reds who attended the 4-3 victory over Jurgen Klopp's Merseysiders are likely to ever forget the atmosphere that they experienced, particularly after Antony's goal and during extra-time.
In the build-up, numerous players, ex-players and staff members had spoken enthusiastically about the kind of energy that can be harnessed when those on the pitch come together with those off it, and Sunday provided some of the best evidence yet for that argument.
We now have an FA Cup semi-final to look forward to, and 10 more Premier League games too, as we go hunting for a top-four place and the second piece of silverware of the Erik era.
And if we keep bringing that noise, as we did on Sunday, there's every chance that both of those ambitions can be realised.
